On the serious side of things, the significance here is that the Iranian regime is afraid—very afraid. It’s recognizing that the cultural penetration of the country is causing their death. By placing regulations on the youth, the regime hopes to push back against the Western trend and have more excuses to arrest dissenters. Those willing to challenge the regime in the streets are also willing to dress liberally, so it’s better to nab them based on those lesser offenses.
The timing is also interesting. This happened ahead of July 9, the anniversary of the 1999 student uprising. Universities in Tehran are on alert. The regime is looking for excuses to arrest students before they can assemble. I am providing updates as they come in at WorldThreats.com and will write a comprehensive summary this weekend.
