Michael van der Galien was born in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden in 1984. For as long as he can remember, he has been obsessed with the United States. When he was 17 years old, he started blogging - of course about America. His articles have been published at Big Hollywood, Pajamas Media, Hot Air (the GreenRoom) and Right Across The Atlantic. He's also an editor for the Dutch conservative blog, De Dagelijkse Standaard.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughter, Liz, has joined a growing chorus of prominent conservatives calling on RNC Chairman Michael Steele to step down.

Steele made headlines yesterday when a video surfaced of him telling a Connecticut audience that Afghanistan is “Obama’s war” and that the battle is already lost for the U.S. These were by far the stupidest comments made by an influential politician in years, even decades. After all, Steele’s party has constantly criticized Obama for his lack of commitment to the war in Afghanistan, arguing it’s vital to win it. If the U.S. fails, they rightfully argue, the Taliban and Al Qaeda will make a comeback. We’ve seen what can happen when these two radical Islamic groups are in control of that country back on 9/11/01.

Additionally, Steele’s remarks made clear that he has doesn’t even remember that Bush, not Obama went to war against Afghanistan and that he only did so because Al Qaeda committed an atrocious terrorist attack nine years ago, killing thousands of innocent Americans.

It should be clear to anyone with half a brain that Cheney and other critics of Steele are completely justified in calling for his resignation. The man has proven to be utterly incompetent. If you don’t know what the war in Afghanistan is all about, you’ve got no business talking about politics in general. You should just stuff it, go home and dedicate the rest of your life to improving your golf game. Glad to see that the Feminist Hawk Liz Cheney also realizes that and is – in true Cheney-style – not afraid to say so publicly.
