Grab your popcorn and take a chair. No, it’s not an old episode of The Sopranos; it’s the all new Rod Blagovich Show.

First, you’ve got a superstar cast with all the usual names involved, like Barack Obama, Rahm Emmanuel, Andy Stern, Valerie Jarrett, Jesse Jackson Jr., and even  Oprah Winfrey , Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. Now, that has to be ratings gold. In a not-so-rare plot twist, you also have the wheeling, dealing and trading for positions and senate seats.

On top of all this, he highlights the corruption of foundations and illustrates how easy it is to bargain your way into running a huge national foundation with absolutely no background. It’s all a matter of working with the right people, after all.

Then there is the discussion of abusing grant money, which is happening more often than we’d like to think. Can you imagine what good all of the grant money might be doing if it wasn’t being abused by politicians?

Reading over highlights (lowlights?) from the Rod Blagovich trial currently going on, I concluded that it is not only a great script for a new prime time show, but it clearly sums up everything that’s wrong in American politics (special emphasis on Chicago.)

We all like a great crime story, political drama or an old episode of The Sopranos, but when the story is no longer fiction, unfolding before our eyes and affecting our lives, it’s time to change the station.
