Stark Raving Mad on Securing our Borders

Yesterday, on both “Glenn Beck” and “The O’Reilly Factor,”  we were treated to the despicable rantings of stark raving mad Congressman Pete Stark, a California Democrat, who appeared at a town hall meeting and responded to constituents who were concerned about our insecure borders.

Dripping with sarcasm, Stark responded that the solution would be to give more guns to the Minutemen:

We can’t get enough Minutemen armed. We’d like to get all the Minutemen armed so they [illegals] can stop shooting people here.

Then Stark denied that there was any real problem, asserting that the borders were adequately secure:

Our borders are quite secure, thank you

Such lunacy should be no surprise, coming from a member of the Progressive Caucus in the House of Representatives.  Stark is so much to the Left that his voting record is rated by the Americans for Democratic Action as between 95 and 100 percent on the Left side of legislation.

Stark obviously has no problem with illegal immigration, as evidenced by his consistent votes opposing any means to stop the flood of illegal aliens across our borders:

  • against separate proposals calling for the construction of some 700 miles of fencing to prevent illegal immigration along America’s southern border;
  • against the Real ID Act, which proposed to set minimal security requirements for state driver licenses and identification cards; and
  • against a proposal to grant state and local officials the authority to investigate, identify, and arrest illegal immigrants.
  • Responding to a suggestion from a member of the audience during his town hall meeting that we build a wall high and long enough to at least keep out vehicles, Stark replied:

    Well, I tell you what. We’ll go down there. You design the wall, and … if you don’t want to shoot the people coming over. then I’ll go down and … start a ladder company. But I’ve got to know how high that wall is, and I’ll sell a whole lot of ladders for people who want to come.

    I have a better suggestion. Let Stark go down and spend a month anywhere of his choosing within the 3,500 acres of southern Arizona along the Mexican border that has been closed to U.S. citizens due to increased violence in the region. Maybe that experience, if he survives it, will wipe the smirk off his face.
