Let the lies begin.

What do you do if you are in the media and your top Senator on the Left is going down?  You dig up old interviews on his competition and then give false reports and distortions on what that person said.  The ends justify the means for some liberal and mainstream publications.

Just hours ago stories began to break in the progressive blogosphere and in the press that Nevada Senate Candidate Sharron Angle made shocking comments in an interview early this year.  Angle is running against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in one of the biggest battles this November. As soon as Angle won the Republican primary a month ago she was relentlessly attacked as a right-wing Tea Party nut.  And now some statist rags think they’ve got some firepower against her – of course they had to distort the truth to do it.

In January Sharron Angle  did an interview on the Bill Manders radio show.  In that interview she was asked her views on abortion point blank.  Here is the transcript:

Manders: Is there any reason at all for an abortion?

Angle: Not in my book.

Manders: So, in other words, rape and incest would not be something?

Angle: You know, I’m a Christian and I believe that God has a plan and a purpose for each one of our lives and that he can intercede in all kinds of situations and we need to have a little faith in many things.

Angle gives what I would consider to be a basic pro-life response.  I am very active in the pro-life movement and find nothing shocking or newsworthy in her statement.  People who are fully pro-life typically believe that every life is a gift of God.  We are against abortion for that very reason.  Every unborn child is a life and deserves what our founders say we all deserved: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  These are God-given rights according to The Declaration of Independence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Angle is merely agreeing with our founders and any Christian or Jew who takes the Scriptures seriously.  All of us have the right to life.   Even children born from unwanted pregnancies are still deserving of life and God has a plan for them. So a child born from rape, incest, or any other way is still a child of value.  Would anyone argue that a child already born from those circumstances doesn’t have value?  Surely not.  So it makes basic sense for someone pro-life to give those unborn children equal respect.

But here is what we get from the leftist Huffington Post:

The Tea Party-backed candidate told the Bill Manders show — a favorable platform for Republican candidates — that she opposed abortion even in cases of rape and incest. A pregnancy under those circumstances, she said, was “God’s plan.”
