McChrystal, for whatever reason, is getting his A*S kicked in afghan! You know it, he knows it and the American people know it.

The afghans have kicked out every major empire including the Russians and British for the last 2000 years. It is time to admit the obvious – Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam all over again.

I am sure that in his good time General McChrystal will make clear his reasoning, he will make it
McChrystally clear that as a soldier of America he is not on its enemies side. I would not want him
after me and surely Obama did not want him doing the job his rank, training and ability demanded,
Obama wants facade not the real thing and the good General was and is the real thing…….How
putrefying all of those were who jumped at the chance to say how he should not have made
comments, they should have demanded to know the why and wherefore of it all, how joyous of
them to be politically correct, not worthy to lick his boots they should be remembered in November.

I also wish to add my gratitude to that of Kary and James Sarafin. General McCrystal could not have advanced to his rank and at the same time be stupid. Many democrats are jumping ship Obama because it has been taking on to much oil and is sinking. I hope he goes down with the ship. McCrystal's statements should open the eyes of America, but alas, far to many are blinded by the light of Oblunder.

I've made the comment before about not having a "Free Fire Zone", to the detriment of the troops. The Rolling Stone article validates this. Now Obama has General Patreaus, Bush's General. Obama has now proven he is "Beyond his Paygrade".

I too hope more people will sit up and pay attention to what should be the REAL story, which is the message General McChrystal was getting out to the American people in the only way he could, and it get the attention it needs. Anyone who thinks the General made a "mistake" and didn't realize what he was doing, is an idiot. You are right, he and his staff sacrificed themselves in order to get the word out, hoping in the end to keep the lives of our brave military volunteers from being sacrificed by a Commander in Chief that has no idea what he is doing. McCrystal not Stupid!

McCrystal, a Warrior General as described by Rush, knows that if he resigned and then spoke his piece, as many Conservatives pundits have stated should have been McCrystal’s course of dissent, it would have been mostly ignored by the White House with some comment that ‘policy can never have 100 percent support’ or such similar statement.

By speaking out as an active duty general McCrystal is forcing the White House to publically react which will bring much more attention to the issues that McCrystal feels are not getting the necessary consideration or are getting misguided consideration.

This makes it obvious that McCrystal cares more for his country and for the men and women that serve their country than he cares for his own career and his own future in the military.

McCrystal will most likely leave the White House meeting without employment but all is well because in the eyes of the reasoning public McCrystal will go down in history as an American hero.

Agree, and am glad NRB posted this since most everyone is focused on any of what the Rolling Stone's Hasting said; only on what McChrystal/subordinates said or didn't say and whether it meets the level of relief of command.

I have worked for many years as a Senior/Fellow Engineer, Military Avionics Programs, DoD.
I know the superb quality of our soldiers of all ranks but in particular the top level people.
General McChrystal is one of the best and a master of systems. He did not just casually drip snears during a magazine interview. He sent an inequivocal message to one and all.
It is up to the people to understand the setting and message clearly before is too late.
We must tank him for sacrificing his career to send a warning signal to one and all.

Wonder how General Patton would have handled this mess at the White House? I have high respect for our military leaders and the men and women who put their lives at risk in this war. It's just too bad that by some character quirk and an unfortunate meeting/interview with –of all magazines– it had to be Rolling Stone! (Could the general been set up?!) After all the hoopla dies down, I hope this will give the WH occupant some serious thinking to do. Our soldiers are stressed out and to be led by a CIC who's lacking in military experience – not to mention, an uninspiring participant in the war against terrorism, very easily, can bring in some negative vibes.

The first thing is, you can't "sort" of fight a war. You fight it hard, without equivocation, and you fight it to kill as many of the enemy of you possibly can. No one wants to kill civilians, and honorable soldiers will seek to avoid civilian casualties, but not at the expense of losing the war. The second thing is, you have to figure out who the enemy is. It's certainly not "terrorism." The enemy is not even "radical Islam." I suggest that the enemy is those who profess adherence to Islam itself which is far more political than it is religious. No Muslim can be trusted, and you know this if you read the Islamic trilogy. As difficult as it is to accept this, Islam would have to wiped out in Afghanistan before there could be a "victory." Anything less than the defeat of Islam itself, is a loss. Islam is and always will be the enemy of free men. The west either rolls back Islam, or we lose. For 1400 years Islam has spread by conquest.
