President Obama is not the only one following Rahm Emmanuel’s advice that “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

GE CEO Jeff Immelt is also trying to take advantage of the BP oil disaster to get the government to fund additional money for research and development in clean energy technology.

Immelt is a member of the American Energy Innovation Council, an organization that recently recommended the U.S. to “more than triple its spending on clean energy research and development to $16 billion a year.”

GE wants the U.S. taxpayer to subsidize its clean energy business.

It seems that Immelt’s plan is to let “we the people” take the investment risk while he stands to profit if the research pays off.

FreedomWorks’ blog on GE provides more information on the company’s fast and loose regard for the taxpayer’s dollar behavior.  It also links to a petition that asks Immelt to resign.

It’s time for people to realize that progressive CEOs such as Immelt represent a risk to liberty.
