Matthews Finally Discovers 200 Year Old Movement

In Chris Matthews’ MSNBC special, he has labeled the Tea Party and various other groups as something he likes to call the “New Right”. While these concepts may be new to him, they are not new to most tea party participants. In fact, this movement is over two hundred years old:

The U.S. Constitution was drafted on September 17, 1787. It was officially ratified and became effective March 4, 1789. The first ten amendments (the “Bill of Rights”) were ratified December 15, 1791. Originally, 12 Amendments were sent to the states….only 10 were ratified…..the original 2nd Amendment is now the 27th.

Yes, it is really all about the Constitution and adhering to it. It’s not just about taxes, immigration or any one issue. It’s about people’s belief in the work of the founders. It is the people’s concern about the drastic movement of government away from these concepts that were so carefully written to preserve our freedom. In other words, Chris, everything old is new again.
