When Is It OK To Give A Congressman A Good Old-Fashioned Beating?

If you dare to ask a Democratic congressman if he fully supports president Obama‘s radical leftist agenda, you should expect to get roughed up by him, and the whole violent episode to be carefully ignored by our beloved mainstream media. That’s the lesson America learned this week.

This was a case of “a couple of students who have the unmitigated gall to ask a congressman a question! ” Glenn Beck remarked sarcastically on his TV show. (transcript here)

Frankly, I’m amazed that the young filmmakers who were so violently assaulted by Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.) earlier this week, didn’t sock Big Bob in the jaw. The distinguished gentleman certainly deserved it. And since they faced a serious physical threat from the man it would have been a legitimate act of self-defense. If a physically imposing man grabs a smaller man for no reason he ought to expect a nasty hoofing to the groin – at a minimum.

Alas, they did not – and it’s probably a good thing. Perhaps if they had, the New York Times wouldn’t have buried its report on the event. If a Republican lawmaker had assaulted two kids with cameras for daring to ask a question, Americans would have been subjected to wall-to-wall coverage until said lawmaker self-immolated on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

Even leftist Glenn Greenwald of Salon thinks Etheridge should be arrested for assault. It’s “a clear case of assault and battery.”

There is some speculation that the individuals questioning him have some connection to the right-wing organization of Andrew Breitbart.  I hope it goes without saying how irrelevant that is.  The only reason I think this is worth noting is this:  imagine what would have happened to those students if this situation had been reversed, and it was they who had physically assaulted Rep. Etheridge, rather than the other way around. How quickly would they have been arrested and prosecuted?  The application of our laws isn’t supposed to depend upon who is perpetrating the crime and who the victim is.

Well put.

Moving along, it appears the cowardly character assassins at the George Soros-directed steno pool at Media Matters for America are not as stupid as they seem. As I write this blog post Media Matters is silent on Etheridge’s assault. Will the depraved leftists employed by admitted serial liar David Brock step up to the plate on this issue anytime soon?

Given that Media Matters describes its mission as fighting “conservative misinformation,” we can only assume that the group considers what little coverage the crime has received in right-leaning media so far to be fair. In this case, then, silence is agreement. I wish the same could be said for the –  supposedly neutral – mainstream media’s (lack of) response to this controversy.
