Yesterday, much attention was paid to State Rep. Janis Sontany (D-TN) and her comments regarding Republican women. To wit:
At a Democratic gathering over the weekend, Sontany said of women Republican state lawmakers: “You have to lift their skirts to find out if they are women. You sure can’t find out by how they vote!” State GOP chairman Chris Devaney quickly issued a press release calling her comment “inappropriate and disrespectful” and demanding that various Democrats denounce Sontany.
The comment was certainly inappropriate, but it wasn’t very surprising, coming from a woman who, as a Democrat, relies on gender baiting and identity politics in order to further her own agenda and to obtain and maintain power. Still, the comment was roundly criticized and rightly so. Points that I, and others, have been making for months were reiterated: “Liberals” and self-avowed feminists, redundant as that is, care naught for women themselves, but for their harmful agenda only.
Their cloak of perpetual victim-hood also no longer serves to give them cover. It has become worn thin and transparent with overuse, thus, they’ve now been exposed as the femisogynists that they are. However, a key and an extremely heartening point was missed. The second part of Rep. Sontany’s statement: “You sure can’t find out by how they vote!”
That’s right. As it should be.
Much like the point that I made after the recent primaries, when a newspaper article proclaimed “In primaries, female candidates didn’t make gender an issue.” Of course they didn’t make it an issue. Because it should not be one.
GOP women already know that we are equal and have no need to join some gender gang, voting in Stepford Feminist lockstep, with skirts checked upon entrance. GOP women also know that there is no such thing as a “woman’s issue.” All issues are people issues, all issues are American issues. There is no need to differentiate them and break them down along pointless gender lines. Not so for Democrat women, who embrace the faux feminist (Femisogynist) mindset.
