Here's the thing:
Yes, Bethany's initial message was a little on the crazy side. Comparing the swimsuit edition of Backdrop to Nazism is quite ridiculous, yes.
But I would like to point out that the march that resulted from this whole incident ended up being an insanely positive thing. This article does not mention that. Bethany organized a march across campus in swimsuits, celebrating the differences in body types etc etc. Everyone who attended said it was a really positive experience for them to have the courage to walk around in public in their bathing suits.
Also, another thing this article does not mention is the fact that the original advertisement for the swimsuit edition of Backdrop they asked for people of all shapes and sizes to come to the audition to be in the magazine. Several people I know went and did not make the cut, all of them non typical sizes. From an outsider's perspective, I can see where it all seems a little crazy, and your arguments are completely just. But in the end, Bethany actually went about her protest in a really positive way.

also, just a side note, Bethany is not fat in the slightest, she is actually quite attractive. Not that that is really the issue at core here, but I am just saying.

Hahahahaha- the old jealous fat girl routine…. As a size 0 petite at 52, I've felt it all my life… and had to deal with the prejudice THAT engenders. But hey… I can't reach the top shelf, and can't get attention at the bar or at a high counter…you know, we've all got our cross to bear!! How stupid can people be? When she runs her own magazine, she can use fat, jiggling cellulite laden cows to model bathing suits and see how many people flock to buy the magazine, or the bathing suits! Rotsa ruck, honey.

The shoulder-hip ratio of the girl in the photo is off, and I doubt she has natural blond hair or blue eyes, which are a must if one is to be righteously hated for one's racial ancestry. Worse, her facial expression indicates that she hates her bikini and what it does to her bony body. What's to envy?

Envy is one of the seven deadly sins because those who indulge it project their self-hatred onto others, leading to dire consequences for all of us. What follows next are (1) the construction of a risible victimhood narrative (e.g. I'm dumpy and unattractive because society's standard of beauty is wrong, which makes me a victim of both society and those who benefit from and perpetuate the standard), which (2) justifies the hatred of society and the offending others, providing (3) legitimate grounds for a call to action against society and its beneficiary groups on behalf of the victims.

Substitute race, social status, or wealth for beauty in the scenario above, and one readily sees how the left form their social justice narratives. But those of us who understand envy and how it works also understand that the best way to bring about social justice is to kill the green-eyed monster.

The responses that come the nutballs like Ms. Bethany Francis form the core insanity, instability and
irrationality that have become a screaming, knee-jerk reaction to all that does not totally conform to their narrow, hate-filled, domination over men and conservative or pro-life women philosophy. The seething hatred is always bubbling beneath the surface looking for an outlet, no matter how inconsequential or minor the perceived "offense", the opportunity is seized upon as the intervention averting a world catastrophy. I cannot even consider them as pathetic. They wreck havoc and spread their venom with the seeming impunity that these harpies and Progressives, in general, now exhibit.

I would have thought that, because the mag model appears to be a healthy, average, everyday young woman, feminists would see this cover as a positive step forward and away from the ridiculous, fashion-model standards that have so often been depicted pretty much everywhere we go in our society.

Well, that's how I look at this, anyway. It's nice to see a magazine cover depicting a real person for a change.

Ms. Francis admits that she is full of hate but believes this hatred is caused by outside influences? She then claims that those responsible for, "making her feel this way," are hate filled to do this to her. Could this be projection, immaturity, and avoiding looking at why she is so angry? Usually this reaction is a sign of lack of spirituality and gratitude, and is common in the narcissistic personality. Ms. Francis, what bothers you is meaningless as you are only one of 6 billion souls on this planet.
