The Gaza Flotilla affair is yet another regrettable incident where Israel was left in the position of having to defend itself against hostile enemies, yet condemned by international Thugs. The saga continues as the U.N. calls for an international inquiry in the face of increasing provocation against Israel from: terrorists, those that harbor and support them, and of course the never-changing Leftist ideologues, some within the Jewish camp:

The crisis is the latest in a series of Israeli decisions devised to secure the nation, and while each was to some degree tactically successful, each also further undermined its international legitimacy and increased its isolation, policy experts here said. Those actions included building a barrier along the border with the West Bank to keep out suicide bombers; bombing Lebanon to try to disarm Hezbollah; invading Gaza in response to Hamas rocket fire; and blockading Gaza to keep out weapons.

Yaacov Bar-Siman-Tov, a professor of international studies at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, said the nation’s leadership had failed to improve its legitimacy problem because it focuses on tactics, like destroying enemies, rather than on a long-term strategy aimed at an ultimate settlement with the Palestinians. New York Times

Leftists are adept at selectively reporting the preposterous tomfoolery of cherry picked academics.  Such absurdity gains legitimization in the eyes of many because Bar-Siman-Tov is Jewish and because he is an academic, so he is accepted as an expert with no questions asked.  Imagine entertaining the notion that the United States not defend itself against an aggressive enemy with a goal to “wipe it off the map” as Iranian lunatic President Ahmedinejad has threatened repeatedly.  Bar-Siman-Tov apparently ‘forgets’ that Hamas is backed by Iran. In a statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the Flotilla incident:

This is a clear case of self-defense. Israel cannot allow the free flow of weapons, of and rockets and missiles to the terrorist base of Hamas in Gaza. It’s a terrorist base supported by Iran. Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs Newsletter

Rafi Sela is a noted Israeli Security Specialist and trained Israeli Defense Forces Seal.  Here is what he sent me in an e-mail about that same incident:

So, what happened REALLY is simple and sad.

The best trained IDF soldiers were dispatched to force a “friendly humanitarian” vessel to change course to the port of Ashdod in Israel. We DID NOT stop the mission! We have the right to inspect the cargo and then ship it to Gaza via land. My idea is also to ship all that were aboard the ship to Gaza together with the supplies.

When IDF boarded the ship the first 10 soldiers were lynched!!!! Plain and simple almost murdered. It took the IDF command too long to give the order to protect themselves.

Rafi further sent a dire warning:

Why is the whole world giving in to Iran, Hizbulla and Hamas? It is because they are afraid of them. No one wants to be hit by terror and they can give Israel away in the process. The problem is double: Israel has the right to defend itself and will NOT go away, and the terror will hit the world anyway.

Israel does not need to “improve its legitimacy” in the eyes of the world.  It is the only real democracy in the Middle East where the people of Gaza would have more human rights in Israel than they do under Hamas, who uses women and children as human shields.  Nothing Israel does will bring any satisfaction to its anti-Semitic enemies, accept to allow itself to be ‘wiped off the face of the map’ period.  As for Israel’s ‘occupied lands’, they are less ‘occupied’ than the unresolved lands under Native Claims in North America.  Here’s the only place Israel has erred according to Daniel Pipes, Director of the Middle East Forum:

Israel’s command structure, having mastered the old ways of war (the ones that lasted to 1973), has shown utter strategic incompetence at the new ways of war (in place since 1982). The new rules require an agile sense of public relations, which means that a powerful state never physically harms, even inadvertently, its rag-tag political adversaries.  Daniel Pipes, National Review

And now the U.N. is demanding an international inquiry?  Is this the same U.N. that sponsored the anti-racism conferences–Durban I and Durban II,–remembered as a U.N. backed assault on Israel?  These farces were complete with strategies to isolate Israel through boycotts, divestments and sanctions. And, Durban II was actually chaired by Libya and vice-chaired by Cuba with Ahmadinejad giving the opening speech in Geneva.

If any country needs to develop an ‘agile sense of public relations’ and improve its legitimacy, it is those governed by strict Strict Shariah Law where atrocious human rights violations are the order of the day, and where Leftist infidels will be slaughtered.
