Jessica Valenti is really upset with Sarah Palin. Valenti is a self-described “feminist” who doesn’t like the fact that Palin uses the word “feminist” a lot.  She attempts to refute the idea that Sarah Palin is a feminist in an article at WaPo — The fake feminism of Sarah Palin

The word “feminism” is very important to Valenti as you can see by the biographical info on her website.

Jessica Valenti is a feminist writer and blogger. She is the founder and editor of the popular blog and online community, Feministing.com, and the author of three books: Full Frontal Feminism: A Young Woman’s Guide to Why Feminism Matters, He’s a Stud, She’s a Slut…and 49 Other Double Standards Every Woman Should Know, and The Purity Myth: How America’s Obsession with Virginity is Hurting Young Women.

Valenti’s book sales do rely, on some level, on public acceptance of the liberal definition of feminism since she so frequently uses the term “feminism” or a variation of it in her marketing.  Perhaps Valenti believes Palin has committed some level of copyright violation, or even identity theft, in using the term “feminism” since she relies on it so intimately in her work.
