Brave New Films Denounces Texas Efforts To Fix Leftist School Textbooks

I just received an hysterically funny solicitation email from Hollywood filmmaker Robert Greenwald (pictured above). Greenwald‘s an activist with the leftist agitprop outfit called Brave New Films. This producer of hard-left propaganda is incensed that elected officials in Texas are trying to purge leftist filth from the state’s school textbooks. The email says

Ultraconservatives in Texas have approved radical changes to state educational curriculum. In a shameless attempt to infiltrate their agenda in the classroom they have decided to effectively:

* Erase the late U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy

* Glorify President Ronald Reagan

* Require students follow conservative leaders and organizations such as the National Rifle Association, the Heritage Foundation, and Moral Majority

* Minimize minority leaders such as Cesar Chavez and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall

* Teach that the United Nations threatens U.S. liberty, freedom and sovereignty

* Portray the country as a “Constitutional Republic” and NOT a “Democracy”

* Eliminate separation of Church and State

Now I don’t trust this description –coming from rabid leftists— of what conservatives want to do for a second, but if it happens to be accurate, what’s the big deal? Most of the items on the list are admirable:

  • Ronald Reagan was a truly great president and he deserves to be glorified
  • the United Nations is a sinister, corrupt organization run by banana republic dictators and Third World socialist who both fear and hate America
  • the United States is in fact a constitutional republic and not a “democracy” as anyone who knows basic civics knows

Before hitting me up for a $25 donation, the Brave New Films email concludes that

The changes inject far-right conservative ideals into social studies, history and economics lessons that will be taught to millions of students for the next decade. Texas is one of the biggest textbook purchasers in the country; the new “whitewashed” standards could end up indoctrinating children across the country with a lesson about conservative ideology rather than real American history.

That sounds like hogwash to me.

The left, including the Bill Ayers edu-agitator types, are just upset that the left’s near-perpetual dominance in education is finally being challenged. If Texas succeeds in improving its school textbooks, the left’s education-indoctrination apparatus will still control the other 49 states, which I suspect means Brave New Films is going to be very busy for a very long time.

Brave New Films has plenty of other campaigns, which are largely class-warfare appeals to envy. The outfit attacks corporate CEOs for supposedly making too much money and undermines America’s war efforts abroad. One video glorifies the U.S. Senate’s sole self-described socialist, Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Another video gives the unhinged leftist buffoon Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) a platform to attack our precious First Amendment freedoms.

That’s Brave New Films in a nutshell.
