Last night April and I watched this sci-fi horror movie about alien abductions in Alaska. The film is in the “Blair Witch” and “Paranormal Activity” style in which it tries to utilize allegedly real footage. Except instead of doing witches or poltergeists this one goes with UFO abductions.

By and large I was pretty unimpressed. I thought the disjointed stylistic approach undermined the dramatic tension that could have been created had the filmmakers focused on developing the characters more. It’s also pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that it’s not based on actual events and the “real” footage is not actually real.

Some of the creepy, “jump” scenes scared the socks off of April, though. So I will give it some props for a few effective sequences.
