Following up on David Forsmark’s Mother’s Day post, Diann commented:

Talk about feminism in the Old Testament!!! It proceeds Proverbs. When God called Abraham out of the idol and multiple god worshiping population – the first order He gave was to stop killing the first born of each family, as was the custom, to plant the babies outside the marital home in hopes the gods would grant them fertility. The old ways also decreed that a number of babies be cut up and used as fertilizer in the agricultural fields, to appease the gods to send rain to grow the crops. So – in my thinking – Yaweh was the original feminist in that He decreed the preservation of what came from women – babies. Yeah Yaweh!!! Jesus came along in the New Testament and in a similar manner elevated the status of women. Jesus was therefore a feminist – that is, anyone who promotes and values women.
