Thirteenth! Goodness. Such a vote of confidence is pretty overwhelming coming from someone I respect as much as John. I don’t really feel like we deserve such a high spot on the list but I’m not about to question his taste and judgment.
Let me repay the blog-love by saying what I think of John — where he ranks on my list. While John’s web empire is impressive — and essential reading — what really blows me away with him is his writing. Make a special point to read his Townhall column every time a new one comes out. (Most recent one here.) There is no figure in the blogosphere who presents a conservatism as accessible, unifying, and thoughtful as John Hawkins. I’m continually impressed by both the care of his analysis and the effectiveness of his prose.
My only concern with John is this: that he’ll suffer the same blogging paralysis as I and be delayed in writing some books. John, it’s vital that you don’t let that happen.
