I don't know who comes up with such crazy stuff. I have visited many Muslim countries and have preached in mosques and lectured in Islamic schools and nobody has ever called me an apostate. "Devout" is a term used by non-Muslims and Muslims who don't understand that traditional Islam is based on the concept that on the Last Day God will judge people according to their sincerity, not their external actions, including prayer, etc.

In traditional Islam an apostate can only be called such a thing if he or she specifically renounces belief in One God and the message of Muhammad, to the public. In Islamic history apostasy charges were rare and usually were a cover for political repression.

Shariah is the exclusive form of law in only one Muslim country, Saudi Arabia. Even Iran has retained aspects of Western law from its 1906 constitutional revolution. Shariah as public law failed in Sudan and although Ghadafi said he would try it in Libya it does not appear he did.

It took 700 years for Christians to understand that if they wanted to oppose Islam they had to know what it really was, not fantasiye about it. No sensible Muslim objects to non-Muslims defending their own religions and cultures, but to do so on the basis of nonsense is no help to anybody.
