Cynthia Yockey of The Feminist Hawks’ Nest has today’s NRB’s Book Club recommendation.
Cynthia said:
I’m currently reading Hayek’s The Road to Serfdom and it’s amazing how well he described how planned economies like the one Obama and the Democrats are trying to force on us result in totalitarianism immediately.

I read it. High lighted many pages …it reads like the OBAMA PLAY BOOK!
Fantastic book!
I have just finished reading two books which have just recently been reprinted:
1. The Theory of Money & Credit, Ludwig von Mises
2. The Mystery of Banking, Murray N. Rothbard
Mystery covers pretty much the same theory as Money & Credit and is easier to comprehend. It's an excellent book if you want to understand money and how banking works — subjects of vital importance especially in today's "Alice in Wonderland" world.
In the Mises book I highly recommend everyone read section 1 of chapter 1 of Part Four, Monetary Reconstruction. It is historical rather than theoretical, hence easier to read. It explains the central role sound money had in the transition from the arbitrary rule of kings and despots to the relative liberty of the past several centuries. It brings tears to your eyes to see how Western Civilization has squandered that legacy.
If you want a scholarly economic analysis of the Federal Reserver i recommend the following trilogy:
"What Has Government Done to Our Money?/Case for a 100 Percent Gold Dollar" Murray N. Rothbard
"Man, Economy, and State with Power and Market (The Scholar's Edition" Murray N. Rothbard
"The Case Against the Fed" Murray N. Rothbard
Great, thanks for sharing!
I liked the book, especially the arguments against "free" socialism.
