I expect the age of adulthood to moved up to 26 to coincide with the health insurance mandate in the health bill and of course, when you see the level of maturity presend in demonstrations such as this one.you see no reason do argue about it.

I work in the building adjacent to Oakland City Hall, and the protesters were right outside my window last Thursday. At first they made a lot of noise but it seemed peaceful. Then the screaming started and the allegations of racist policies intended to keep minorities down. This finally evolved into chants of "We are…Oscar Grant! We are…Oscar Grant!" What Oscar Grant has to do with any of this, except as a vehicle for inciting a riot, I don't know.

My son attends a UC school. He said that the things he heard at first were reasonable-the bloated administration, etc. As it continued and deteriorated, they were demanding the state come up with more money. There was a small amount of property damage, some were wielding weapons, and many were blocking traffic. He's a libertarian/conservative so he wasn't interested in participating.

The opportunities for college in California are great due to huge subsidizing. You can attend the junior college system here (for 2 to 2 1/2 yrs.) for about $800 a semester (includes tuition, books and parking permit), then transfer to CSU or UC schools. Total for a degree (without living expenses) between $15,000 and $25,000. One of the reasons we stay in California is we have 2 in college right now and one who will be in 1 1/2 yrs. We will be out of here after we get them thru college.
