As soon as I heard the number of "operatives" involved in this hit, I dismissed MOSSAD involvement. MOSSAD would never require so many operatives to pull off such a "covert" operation.

Nonetheless, i gave a little "whoop" of joy when I heard that al-Mabouh had been taken out.

Two points:

1. Please check your ORIGINAL sources before you pass along information. Dubai Police stated that IN AUGUST 2009 they believed that two of the passports later used in the Mabhouh operation had been used to enter and exit Dubai, and that the exit appeared to be by boat. The boat was on record as heading for Iran--which could mean anything including a leisurely passage up the Red Sea to Aqaba. Iran wasnt an out for the assassination team in January 2010.

2. There is nothing keystone cops about this operation. 26 plus people and in country support staff, in and out of a hostile country with no snags. A successful mission accomplished-target eliminated and team extracted. Only eight countries in the world could have pulled that off, and none of them is Arabic.

While it is true that the CIA would probably rely upon elaborate preparations with a large contingent of agents, perhaps Mossad has perfected espionage by the use of simplicity and infiltration. I have difficulty believing that Mossad was involved in this. This looks more along the lines of the Keystone Kops. I smell arab involvement.

Shucks, and I hoped it was Mossad. With the series of surveillance videos and imaginative assessments, who needs Hollywood? Of course, who is to say that all the characters shown on video had anything to do with the killing? The two tennis players had such bowed legs, I couldn't imagine them on any tennis court. One indisputable fact to celebrate is that the s.o.b. is dead. One would like to think Israel was behind it. They are the only folks that get into the news with acts that delight us - the capture of Eichmann in Argentina: a superb piece of work. Entebbe! That needs to be celebrated along with July 4th every year. If whoever got Mahmoud is looking for additional eradication projects, I'd be happy to supply a list, some right in America, starting with organizers of some Student Unions.

Former CIA field officer Robert Baer's opinion may be skewered by immersion in the CIA zero risk culture. The Human Factor, by Ishmael Jones, sabotages ones faith in this branch of the State Department

Risk assessment could also include avoiding having to abort. Perhaps it takes 26 people to make sure an opportunity occurs, while two agents would have to rely on chance to get a good opp. Perhaps the Israeli’s would be more likely to dispatch two skilled agents with instructions to do the job if they can find a safe means, however there is no shame in aborting. The CIA approach, if they were allowed to do such a thing, would be to have a huge team including elaborate preparations and support. Perhaps a spare no expense versus a more frugal approach differentiates the respected secret service cultures. A risk adverse culture would be less forgiving of an abort after spending a wad of cash.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Iran got screwed in an arms deal by this creep Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, and decided to get even with him and make it look like an Israeli hit while they're at it.

That the hit was carried out ineptly almost proves it was done by Arabs !
