Conservatives are generally so oblivious to (or complacent in the face of) the actual threat posed by the political Left in this country that they are willing to cede to Leftists the term “liberal.” This greatly confuses the political discussion, including the one we are about to have. So-called liberals, now include everyone who calls themselves “progressive” (much the way my Communist parents habitually did) and even well known communist hacks like Angela Davis and anti-American radicals like Tom Hayden and Michael Moore. So-called liberals embrace the Old and Fellow Traveling Lefts, – a political faction which included active supporters and appeasers of the Soviet bloc during the Cold War and who with their credulous fellow travelers in the Democratic Party – including Teddy Kennedy and John Kerry — mounted a massive nuclear freeze movement, which almost derailed the end of the Cold War. This movement produced international demonstrations, which were almost as big as the demonstrations against the war in Iraq, and were composed of the same people and their descendants.
The term “liberal” under any reasonable definition should be used to describe people who are tolerant and fair-minded and, who believe in free market institutions and individual as opposed to group rights, and who presumably would understand that America is not the root cause of problems in the Arab Muslim world or elsewhere. There are liberals who would fit this description in the Democratic Party leadership, Joe Lieberman obviously comes to mind, but they are few and far between, and growing weaker by the day. John Kerry is definitely an opportunist but then the anti-American Left is capable of creating political opportunities that John Kerry has been known to seize. When he returned to America after abandoning and then turning on his comrades in Vietnam he joined the campaigns of the rabidly anti-American Left and betrayed his country as surely as Jane Fonda did.
Even The New Republic, for years the chief intellectual promoter of Al Gore, has sounded the alarm bell about the dominance of “Wallacites” in the Democratic Party. This term refers to the Democratic Party Leftists who defected to the Progressive Party in the 1948 election with the agenda of defeating Harry Truman and his cold war policy of opposing Stalin’s conquest of Eastern Europe. The analog to the opposition to George Bush’s latter-day reincarnation of the Truman Doctrine is self-evident. The Progressive Party of Henry Wallace was created and controlled by the Communist Party. Wallace was himself no more a Communist than is John Kerry. He was an opportunist, influenced by the Leftist culture and over his intellectual head. Kerry is no different, except his moral character is a lot more defective.

Very true, but since the majority of people in this country have neither a sense nor an appreciation of history, clarification of labels accomplishes little, if anything. I'll bet a majority of diehard Obama supporters don't know who Truman was, much less associate him as an ardent anti-communist.
Therein lies the problem. Any American with a lick of sense should see right through the facade. (John Kerry even posed for the cameras as a hunter and gun rights supporter, during his Presidential election bid.) Still many adhere to what has been sold to them by the Progessives, as a "Centrist" position. "I'm not too far to the left and I'm not too far to the right, so I am safe to vote for". This is how Goldilocks made her choice in which bed to lay, and which bowl of porridge was "Just Right". Depending on the version of the story you were told when young, Goldilocks may have become friends with the bears or as in the version my parents told, she was eaten. So much for "Centrist" choices.
I believe that most of the college students involved with these protests do so without really knowing what they are doing. For many it is just a cool thing to do and with the help of professors and activists falsely believe they are doing what's right. They have no concept of what really happened in Russia and in China, and only read what's been handed to them and suggested to them. Amongst these are students are frauds and instigators the future Kerry's and Fonda's. My wife is Russian born and raised in the Far East Siberia, my mother in law grew up under Stalin and when she see's these students protesting she gets the same feeling any mother would get when she walks into a room to find her two young children playing with dads loaded hand gun they have no idea what their playing with.
Progressives have a world-view that doesn't take into consideration the consequences of their
actions. They don't look at history as a guide, and as a result don't learn its lessons. They don't
realize he utopia they seek is ridden with many dangers, including loss of freedom, no economic
growth, thus no progress leading to a despotism and tyranny no one could imagine in their worst
nightmares.
The 8 years of the Bush W. administration was a nightmare and left me trembling with Political PTSD. I honestly never before saw such a suborning of the American spirit either in my experience or in the pages of history Surely there must be some accountability. I support efforts to prosecute the whole gang of felons behind the Iraqi Liberation cabal for crimes against humanity. What a nest of vipers they were! To have caused the unnecessary loss of American and Iraqi life and the diversion of so much treasure to such a pure construct of lies was an abomination. Does this make me an insidious leftie with wicked ideas and nefarious intentions?
The reveal about Mr. Horowitz's parrents being communists is so illuminating. Ironically, my conservative son is studying accounting and considers my thinking outdated. "Ain't that America, home of the free? Lil' white houses for you and me".
I know it' a matter of degree, but Obama is spending in two years what Bush spent in eight. We accelerating
toward the precipice. The nightmare is becoming a reality.
That is simply not true. Have you forgotten the trillion dollar military invoice for Iraq? Why does everybody from the right conveniently forget this salient factoid?
