The biggest problem with Rashad Hussain is not his willingness to align himself with undemocratic forces. By no means does that qualify him as dangerous or radical, although it should. If anything, that merely certifies that he lives in Washington. The problem with Rashad Hussain (and Eric Holder, for that matter) is that he really wants to just let terrorists kill people with near impunity, which, for all intents and purposes, means that he welcomes Beslan and 9/11 on American soil every day.

Here are his views:

  • He generally opposes surveillance of sleeper cells, except, I presume, by local law enforcement, which means that he wishes that none of our intelligence agencies existed at all.
  • He opposes trying terrorists, foreign or domestic, as enemy combatants.
  • He opposes Patriot Act provisions which allow for evidence obtained by intelligence services (as opposed to local law enforcement) to be used in prosecuting terrorists.

Taken together, he wants to treat acts of war like shoplifting and he expects Andy Griffith to go find bin Laden with only Barney Fife, a car, a handgun, a baton, and a radio at his disposal.

He is not on our side. He has chosen to dedicate his life to making America safer for jihadis to kill Americans. That’s the problem with Rashad Hussain (and with Eric Holder).
