If you want to cut spending and bring about fiscal responsibility, you have to address seriously the fact that 51% of your taxes go to defense. Without a complete understanding of the military-industrial complex, you’re just whistling Dixie.

You’re either ignorant or a liar. http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=… It’s 21% — entirely reasonable. Actually most of the budget is on entitlements.
And let me just add this: if the amount the federal government spent on defense actually was 51% of its budget that would be wonderful. Just keep the defense budget what it is now and then shrink the rest of the government until everything else spent amounted to what we spend on defense. That would shrink the government about 58%.
