Michael van der Galien was born in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden in 1984. For as long as he can remember, he has been obsessed with the United States. When he was 17 years old, he started blogging - of course about America. His articles have been published at Big Hollywood, Pajamas Media, Hot Air (the GreenRoom) and Right Across The Atlantic. He's also an editor for the Dutch conservative blog, De Dagelijkse Standaard.

“Useful idiots”: I think that being a useful idiot isn’t related to age, but to one’s way of life and one’s willingness and one’s ability to think outside the box.

I’m having a good time watching Beck attack Meghan McCain, though. I defended her in the past, but refuse to do so these days because I think she has truly become a progressive. Take the gloves off, I’d say.

That doesn’t mean, by the way, that I disagree with her more socially liberal views. Homosexuals should be allowed to marry, I agree with her on that, and abortion should also be legal in specific circumstances (rape, incest, mother’s life being threatened).
