I have a delightful new installment of the dialogue with “Leon” which I posted earlier today.
It’s almost a parody of a leftist. I’m beginning to suspect that some conservative is actually joking with me. (Actually, no I’m not. That someone can be this brain dead and indoctrinated is entirely plausible.)
Dear Mr. Swindle,
The discussion isn’t about Mr. Zinn’s book.
It’s about thoughtfullness and perspective. Qualities that I expect of a learned, scholarly writer. Mr. Horowitz has much to learn in that regard.
But as I’ve recently become more familiar with Mr. Horowitz’s work, I realize that I can’t expect too much in the way of those qualities from him.
Your website wastes every page bad-mouthing anyone with a liberal or progressive view. That’s just so pathetic. You wouldn’t even have a platform if progressives hadn’t invented the internet, and every other indispensable form of communication that we have.
You ignore clear and present danger to democracy by cheering the recent Supreme Court decision on campaign contributions, and promote a corporate perspective that threatens to annihilate democracy as we know it.
You do a great dissservice to the American people in that way.
Mr. Horowitz appears to be yet another Ann Colter wannbe; an eager contender in the right-wing race to the bottom. Only a few have her talent for twisted mockery, but Mr. Horowitz isn’t one of them.
Some would say that your site isn’t worth the hard drive space that it takes up on the web.
They might point to the fact that the lack of advertising there is testament that no company of significance wants to be associated with you. [DS: For those curious our Alexa ranking is right here and we’re doing quite well, especially considering we’re a site that’s been around less than a year.]
I might be inclined to agree.
[Emphasis added for obvious reasons.]
My response closing the dialogue:
Oh this is just too rich. Thank you for giving me my laugh of the day. I knew that this dialogue had some value: “if progressives hadn’t invented the internet, and every other indispensable form of communication that we have”
I suppose progressives invented the wheel too, right? And we conservatives are just knuckle-dragging neanderthals stuck in our caves.
Have a nice life, “Leon.” Maybe some day you’ll develop the courage to question your progressive faith as I did.
