Michael van der Galien was born in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden in 1984. For as long as he can remember, he has been obsessed with the United States. When he was 17 years old, he started blogging - of course about America. His articles have been published at Big Hollywood, Pajamas Media, Hot Air (the GreenRoom) and Right Across The Atlantic. He's also an editor for the Dutch conservative blog, De Dagelijkse Standaard.

“You have to be business friendly.” That could very well be the quote of the day. It’s also important to point out – as Beck does – that unions have to0 much influence and that some of them are becoming enemies of the workers they pretend to serve.

The guest calling in from California argues that unions an sich aren’t a problem. No, the mistake California made is that it has granted legal privileges to them.

I’m inclined to disagree. I think that most unions have become pretty useless by now. The economy has changed dramatically since, say, the early 1900’s. Workers are no longer exploited. As I see it, there’s no need for powerful, big unions any longer.
