Michael van der Galien was born in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden in 1984. For as long as he can remember, he has been obsessed with the United States. When he was 17 years old, he started blogging - of course about America. His articles have been published at Big Hollywood, Pajamas Media, Hot Air (the GreenRoom) and Right Across The Atlantic. He's also an editor for the Dutch conservative blog, De Dagelijkse Standaard.

Beck points out that 48 states “are in trouble.” 48. Think about that for a while. Of the 50 states that form the US together, 48 are in financial trouble.

The next point he makes is very, very important: the rich are fleeing California because they aren’t quite willing to be robbed to bail out the state time and again.

States that spend more on welfare and have higher income tax rates are in deeper misery than those who do the opposite. My, my, who would’ve thought? Capitalism, small government and the free market actually work?
