NBC Cafeteria Menu and Racial Stereotyping
The above photograph is an NBC Cafeteria sign, in honor of Black History Month. I won’t hold my breath for the ever-deranged Keith Olbermann of MSNBC to make them so, however. Remember, racism, straight up, as Janeane Garofalo likes to bluster, is totally cool as long as you are of the “correct” political stripe. Olby is just buffoonish enough to consider an entity a purveyor of sweet, sweet liberal policy.
All the sign needs is Bill Clinton, asking for someone to fetch him some coffee. At least the sign is light-colored and not written in “negro dialect”. Harry Reid, therefore, approves!
Some, like Michelle Malkin, think we are being too “Politically Correct” by calling attention to things like this. I don’t agree (I think it’s the first time that I’ve disagreed with her!) This isn’t about being “Politically Correct”; that isn’t the point at all. Instead, it is calling out the PC Police. Every time.
It is bringing attention to the fact that while the Left claims some sort of moral superiority, they are anything but. Much like the Sarah Palin/Rahm Emanuel incident, it is using their own rules against them and making them play by their own rule book.
This is yet another glaring example of the latent racism amongst those who claim to be embracing diversity and post-racial. I wonder if they learned that at NBC Universal’s Diversity Council?
As part of this commitment NBC Universal established the Diversity Council in 2000. Made up of leaders from across the company, the Council has made strides in increasing diversity and creating programs that encourage diverse individuals to pursue careers in media and entertainment or explore business opportunities with the company.
Hey, here’s an idea — stop splitting people up into groups! Try and think like the rest of us. We see people as, you know, people.

Too many people gain from having the races, especially colors, going at each other.
My African American wife said this menu is stupid.
This is as bad as the school cafeteria that had a similar menu for MLK Day. $7.50 for that menu, too? the NBC employees are getting screwed.
What, no watermelon? Racist pigs!
Dang, you beat me to it! The watermelon was probably for dessert, and they also left off the Chittlin's and the BBQ ribs.
If I didn't know better, I would have thought the menu was a joke. I'm truly amazed. NBC never ceases to amaze.
There is no problem with the menu, it's the 'in honor of' that is offensive. NBC is its' own worst enemy. You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried. I heard it got out because someone took a pic with their cell phone and captioned it, HMMM HR? HR? I don't think so, call Affirmative Action. They could do an entire seminar on this menu. Many of my black friends, born in the north and having lived there all their lives, would look at that menu and question "WHY".
PS. Since I'm from the south, I can guarantee those collards and cornbread were LOUSY. A further insult to those of us who know. To Horace Person, the only reason there is no watermelon on the menu is probably because it is not in season.
Thanks for the laugh Lori!
this goes right along with a basket of liberal sterotypes, anybody remember "bubba" clinton's "midnight basketball", "give 'em a basketball and they'll be happy". never mind decent paying jobs and self respect that goes with useful work. just push them aside, cut them a cheque and ignore them until their votes are wanted to elect a liberal politician.
Reminds me of Sunday dinner. It's sad that the idiots on the left don't realize that's southern comfort food. That fact alone highlights the racial motivation behind the "in honor of black history month". Morons…
Before the rant someone should have mentioned that the chef who created and promoted the menu is an African American who has tried for years to have special meals for Black History Month. According to an interview with her, she does not understand the hostility and is worried about the other 3 meals she has planned for this month. Furthermore she fears that backlash from this year will mean that she will be unable to continue in the future. Sounds to me that some people should get all the facts before attacking.
No, perhaps you should understand the point. It's not the menu itself. It is the fact that NBC plays politically correct police FOR EVERYONE ELSE. All the time. Even to the point of having a "Diversity Council".
It is time the PC Police are called out on their own behavior. Every time.
Plus, why constantly separate people into "groups"? It's ridiculous.
Americans amaze the remainder of the world with our stupidity. We are better than this. Show it. Or better still, just shut up.
The canteen manageress who came up with this idea is a bewildered black lady more interested in providing meals than the nuances of political racism. Why not just be nice to her and stop screaming for her blood.? I happen to be English, and if someone if somebody wanted to celebrate English History Week with a menu of roast beef with all the trimmings, I'd just be delighted. Why the double standard?
