Joe Klein could not let it go. On the heels of his disastrous appearance on “The Factor” Monday night during which he viciously attacked Glenn Beck, he used the blog Swampland to display his arrogance towards the Fox News audience:
I was on Bill O’Reilly’s program last night, which was sort of hilarious. The most insufferable part of it was the Fox conceit–really insufferable, after the recent poll that scored Fox as the most trusted news source–that their viewers represent “the folks.”
Yes, they undoubtedly represent some of the (Republican) folks.
Of course, Klein’s attempt to relegate Fox to just a Republican audience is ludicrous. Since Democrats and independents make up the majority of the country’s voters, why are they not watching CNN and MSNBC in droves instead of Fox? The ratings that Fox News garners night after night swamp the other cable channels. In fact, the poll in question conducted by Public Policy Polling shows that even 30% of the Democrats polled trust Fox News.
Undeterred by the facts, Klein then used a poll by the ultra-left Daily Kos to show how extreme Republican voters are, whom he thinks are the only folks who trust Fox News.
Add to this latest bit of nonsense from the pen of Time Magazine’s idiot-savant the following pearls of wisdom insulting the American people that appeared on Swampland last week :
Absolutely amazing poll results from CNN today about the $787 stimulus package: nearly three out of four Americans think the money has been wasted. On second thought, they may be right: it’s been wasted on them.
This is yet further evidence that Americans are flagrantly ill-informed…and, for those watching Fox News, misinformed.
It is very difficult to have a democracy without citizens. It is impossible to be a citizen if you don’t make an effort to understand the most basic activities of your government. It is very difficult to thrive in an increasingly competitive world if you’re a nation of dodos.
So, in Klein’s upside down world, a CNN poll showing that nearly 75% of Americans think that Obama’s stimulus package was a waste of money proves little more than we “dodos” are “flagrantly ill-informed” and being led around like sheep by Fox News. Aren’t at least some of these people reading Time Magazine and watching – dare I say it – CNN, NBC, ABC and CBS?
Dodo is used in slang to refer to a stupid person or dullard. But it also is the term for a large extinct bird that had rudimentary wings useless for flying. Both meanings apply perfectly to Joe Klein, whose brand of stupid ‘journalism’ is becoming extinct and is useless for informing the American people.
