I can see both sides of this issue, but.... isn't allowing homosexuality without any restriction pretty much the same as allowing men and women to sleep in the same barracks? Separating them may seem a little heavy handed, but then isn't military by definition heavy handed?

If the misconduct rules are incredibly strict, then maybe it won't matter - but if an openly homosexual soldier does or says something that damages the morale of the unit, there has to be some recourse. This opens a huge can of worms - comments between two hetero solders can take on a different meaning when one is a homosexual (I'm thinking of epithets jokingly hurled about by manly men).

With don't ask don't tell, it would seem the burden of proof weights heavily against the military administration - harder than proving rape against a man in Islamic law. Without don't ask don't tell, it would have to be the other way around - absolute zero tolerance while on duty. I don't know what the best answer is, but it's not as easy a decision as some try to make it, in either direction.

Holder sued over 'Hate Crimes Act' is the title of an article I received today . Robert Muise, senior trial counsel commented; "Those who supported this recent administration--the homosexual lobby group, the homosexual activists--it's no doubt that they had this as one of their top priorities because it's the wedge to creating greater federal protections for certain classes of persons, and those being people who engage in a form of certain form of deviate sexual behavior."
According to TMLC attorney, this law criminalizes those who speak out against homosexuality based on biblical principles and violates the planfiff's rights to freedom of speech..This action is taking place in Michigan...

I wont go any further and am not castigating Gays, but if Holder broadens the scope of this edit. might it restrict us from commenting on other faiths, too. Specifically, the troubled Muslim one.

Holder is out in left field without a ball glove.

I don't know if I would say he made a fool of himself. But I certainly think he could have done better. Matthews was clearly on the attack.

As for Gen. Powell, at one time I had the utmost respect for him, not so much anymore.

It is about morale plain and simple. take a civilian workplace environment with one male supervisor and
30 married female subordinates. Now add one attractive single female , purported to be a party animal and the male supervisor seems to promoter her or give her favorable treatment .
IN a work environment that doesn't have the life and death pressures of war , we humans have a difficult time the above work scenario . Now imagine a 21 yr old openly homo Lt giving orders to 1 home private that he was seen partying with. Is it really fair to ask the soldier when he is risking his life for us to face the question , "Did the Lt show any favoritism to homo private or did he do the opposite , send into danger because of the private wouldn't cavort with homo Lt?" There are thousands of real life scenarios much more complicated and trying that would occur that we unable to predict. The Generals congressmen know this but they are bound by the motto look good in front of camera , for the people truly think i am a god.

Wow Rhonda, you really think Peter Sprigg did better than Aubrey Sarvis??? Peter made a complete jerk of himself, and I don't think Mr. Sprigg served one day in the military. Aubrey Sarvis is a Vietnam Veteran. General Colin Powell came out today for the repeal of don't ask don't tell. Is he a commie leftie pinko?
