Former Indiana Sen. Dan Coats, a Republican who served from 1989-1999, plans to launch a campaign Wednesday to unseat Democrat Evan Bayh in 2010, a senior GOP official told POLITICO. Coats, 66, has worked as a lobbyist since leaving Congress and was ambassador to Germany under George W. Bush.
