New Russian stealth fighter makes its first flight

It was called “the most outstanding fighter plane ever built.”

A fifth-generation fighter jet utilizing the latest stealth technology, it was a single seat, twin-engine powerhouse capable of overpowering anything it came up against. Known as the F-22 Raptor, its combination of stealth, speed, agility, precision, air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities made it the best overall fighter plane in the world.

No other country had anything like it.

It did, however, have two enemies that it was powerless against: Barack Hussein Obama and the United States Senate.

Deeming the plane to be “too expensive,” the Senate voted last year to de-fund the F-22 program, effectively killing it.

Ironically, Obama, the consummate spender, had finally found something he believed the country could not afford. After the vote Obama gloated:

At a time when we’re fighting two wars and facing a serious deficit, this would have been an inexcusable waste of money.

Our enemies, however, don’t share this opinion, and have not been sitting on their hands.

Yesterday, Russia introduced its newest, long-awaited fighter aircraft.

It’s a “fifth-generation” stealth fighter—Moscow’s answer to the F-22.

Although it still has bugs to be worked out, the plane has become a source of national pride for the Russian government. It is the most sophisticated and expensive warplane to come out of Russia since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Once it’s perfected, there will be no F-22 Raptor to challenge it. In fact, only one other country will have anything sophisticated enough to put up against it: China.

The Chinese have also been working on a fifth-generation stealth fighter, and have been spending huge sums of money to develop it.

When it comes to national security, Russia and China don’t seem to be as squeamish as we are about spending money in order to achieve it.
