Tim and Alissa,
While I agree that what is good for the goose is good for the gander I have a somewhat different take on this decision. As we have not passed legislation that fairly addresses this concern it was the only logical conclusion but is the undue influence of organizations like the SEIU not one of our biggest problems as it is? So this just opens the floodgate for everyone to compete with dollars to elect whoever will give them the best breaks once elected. It's just a good investment at this point. When will we stop treating corporations and unions for that matter as a person? They cannot be jailed. They cannot be held to account. They are not citizens. They are only legal entities. Neither the corporation nor the union should be allowed to participate in this debate. On that matter they should not be taxed either. We might as well elect our President on American Idol at this point. We need to let any individual person donate whatever the heck he wants from his or her own pocket but we have to stop the union/corporate power grab and influence over our elected politicians. Elected to represent the people. Not Corporations and not Unions.
