You know, it's funny, I thought I was being completely over the top, but if you google the phrase "racist against fat people," you'll find an astonishing number of people use it without tongue planted firmly in cheek. Adipositivity gone wild!

I mentioned this corporate move by MacKey to the cashier this last weekend at the Whole Foods that I shop at to get her opinion. She said that she is all for it. She had 30 pounds to lose and was now taking advantage of the FREE gym memberships that Whole Foods gives their employees. Go figure. In addition to the discounts, they get an additional percentage in salary increase at the yearly review. I wish that all employers took an interest in the well-being of the employees and took steps to reward the efforts taken toward health. Becoming upset over this is rediculous. When you go to the doctor and he tells you the same thing, he does not give you money or a bonus percentage off for taking care of what is in your best interest. Get a grip.

Fat isn't a "race" so he can't be racist against fat people. He can be biased towards healthy people or seen as providing incentives to be healthy...but racist? Come on! That word is thrown around too much already.

Leftists only like it when Government set out rules and incentives, they feel it's more efficient that way.

OKay... most companies offer some sort of incentive for living a healthier lifestyle. Just how extreme do these fools really think this is?

Is this a health plan that most people already have in their companies? If not, what is the reason for not doing it like Mackey? Does it offend conservatives or offend liberals? Is it ideology-neutral and can appeal to both ideologies?

When Whole Foods CEO John Mackey had the courage to stand against the disastrous Obamacare bill, he got my business. I shop at whole foods every week. I pay a little more, but the quality of the food is very, very high. The extra cost comes from the Whole Foods inspection regime. The check up on their food supplier's operations to ensure they meet all the high standards of Whole Foods.

Whole Foods is a principled company. From what I've read it's a great place to work. The food is awesome. I'm eating one of their delicious personal sized quiches for lunch today. The stores are cool. They do nice things for people in my community, Dallas.

Whole Foods is a great American company. That's why liberals hate it. Whole Foods is exceptional, and liberals hate winners. Whole Foods has principles, and liberals want relativism. Whole Foods is fact based, and liberals want feelings. Whole Foods does what it says, and liberals just want to say what they'll do.

I'm a conservative. I shop at Whole Foods. So there.

Holy crap! I took the time to read most (couldn't finish all) the comments posted by users on the subject. Every single one of them was up in arms about this policy, calling it illegal, calling Mackey out on trying to get rid of fat people to give his company a "fresh" image and all sorts of other things. Can the man not actually care about his employees? Yes, the BMI isn't a perfect rule, but he's not claiming he'll remove your benefits or health care by not being in a perfect weight, he's just offering a bonus to those who are able to get there. I'm not seeing the problem at all.
