Specter and Sexism

I’m watching Fox News right now and they are talking about Sen. Arlen Specter’s ridiculous and sexist comments aimed at Rep. Michelle Bachmann. You know the “I’ll treat you like a lady, so act like one” remarks.

One of the guests says there’s nothing sexist about these comments and that those who disagree are making a big deal out of nothing. She explained that it’s a generational thing: Specter just doesn’t know any better, he’s an old man, this is how old men treat women.

That may be, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t being sexist. He was and we all know it. The only reason he’s getting away with it somewhat, is because he’s not a Republican anymore. If he was, the media would fall all over themselves condemning him for his anti-women remarks.

As an aside, my grandfather is older than Sen. Specter and I never heard or saw him treat a woman with as little respect as Specter did with Bachmann. This isn’t related to Specter being an old fart, but to him being a sexist pig.
