Michael van der Galien was born in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden in 1984. For as long as he can remember, he has been obsessed with the United States. When he was 17 years old, he started blogging - of course about America. His articles have been published at Big Hollywood, Pajamas Media, Hot Air (the GreenRoom) and Right Across The Atlantic. He's also an editor for the Dutch conservative blog, De Dagelijkse Standaard.

Oh my, this really tells us all we need to know about President Obama’s popularity right now, doesn’t it?

24% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove.

It’s clear to me that the reason Obama’s approval ratings has collapsed is because America is still very much a center-right nation. The president thought his victory meant the country had moved to the left. Nothing was further from the truth. In fact, he could only win because he promised to cut taxes.

It goes without saying that he lied through his teeth when he pretended to be a centrist, but still, Americans elected him thinking he was just that. They soon discovered he isn’t and it didn’t take them long to turn their backs on him.
