Radical Alinskyite advocacy group ACORN, infamous for its involvement in causing the subprime mortgage crisis, has lavishly praised Massachusetts Senate candidate Martha Coakley, Kerry Picket of the Washington Times points out.

Coakley, who is currently attorney general of the Bay State, received an “A+” rating from ACORN in a June 2008 report card for her efforts at screwing over mortgage lenders.

“I am honored to have received this recognition from ACORN,” Coakley said at the time.

“As our office continues to fight predatory lending practices, it is important for local, state, and federal officials, as well as others to work together to try and provide relief and real solutions to individuals who face the threat of foreclosure.”

Of course, ACORN doesn’t give a farthing’s cuss about predatory lending practices. It has long encouraged –nay, demanded— that banks lend money to people who can’t afford to pay it back. ACORN’s modus operandi for decades has been to pressure banks by any means available up to and including extortion, physical intimidation, sit-ins, and surrounding bank executives’ homes with angry rent-a-mobs, in order get them to play ball.

The fact that ACORN thinks so highly of Coakley tells you everything you need to know about her.

Coakley is also the candidate whose staffer assaulted a Weekly Standard reporter earlier this week when he dared to ask her questions following a Capitol Hill fundraising event.

Current polls show her in a statistical dead heat with her Republican opponent.
