Why Obama Doesn’t Support the Green Revolution

This is a follow-up to yesterday’s post, called “Obama’s Shame: Revolution Continues in Iran, Sound of Silence from White House.” When I decided to write that, I wanted to use the opportunity to explain why President Obama hasn’t condemned the violence committed by the Mad Mullahs in recent months. Because the post was long enough as it was, however, I didn’t quite get to that.

As I stated yesterday, nothing but the sound of silence has come from the White House ever since Iranian lovers of liberty and democracy declared war on the thugs who have oppressed them for the last three decades. This even though the U.S. has historically always been an example and inspiration for such those who love freedom, no matter where they live. Some defend Obama’s silence saying endorsing the Green Revolution will hurt, rather than help it. As I explained yesterday – and as my distinguished co-blogger here at NewsRealblog Peter Collier pointed out earlier today as well – this argument makes little sense.

If that’s true, and assuming Obama knows it, why then doesn’t he side with the protestors who are dying in the streets, brutally murdered by, as Peter put it rather well, “the obscene Iranian regime?”

I believe that the answer is both simple and shocking: because Obama, like all leftists, sympathizes with non-Western radicals and extremists. To these “enlightened” souls, Islamic extremism (but also Marxism in South America and other non-Islamic developing countries) is a natural and logical reaction to Western colonialism. What’s more, they see this totalitarian ideology as truly indigenous and therefore worth of praise. No matter the staggering amount of victims adherents of this ideology of hatred and violence have made in recent years. To leftists, they’re still considerably better than capitalists, who truly personify evil to them.

This is why Obama and his good friend Senator John Kerry have no qualms legitimizing the thugs of Tehran. They may not support their murderous policies as such, but they don’t have a real problem with them either. After all, they’re indigenous murderers who hate capitalism. And that and nothing else is all that matters to leftists.
