His lousy reading comprehension skills and blindly ideological bent combine with a preternatural enthusiasm, to produce posts that are inevitably poorly reasoned, poorly written, and sometimes just plain wrong.
Eric Boehlert is the Ed Wood of the George Soros Steno Pool.
On Christmas Eve, even his own readers chided him for his latest gaffe. Thanks to William A. Jacobson at Legal Insurrection for spotting this:
Boehlert takes FoxNews.com to task for writing that the Senate passed the Reid bill “just barely.” Boehlert points out that the vote was 60-39 in favor of the bill, hence the mocking “define ‘just barely’” theme.
Any fair reading of the FoxNews.com sentence quoted by Boehlert, however, makes clear that FoxNews was referring to the Senate barely making Reid’s Christmas deadline, not barely passing the bill.
Sure enough, a few fair-minded Media Matters commenters chime in to point out Eric’s (willful?) misinterpretation of a clearly written sentence. Boehlert responds, “Fair enough” — which we all know is code for “Yeah, yeah. Anyhoo…”
The time stamp on Boehlert’s post is 4:03 ET, December 24. I wonder if Eric will ever look back in regret, that he wasted a youthful Christmas Eve scanning FoxNews.com for imaginary “gotchas”, then simply making one up, in order to meet some real or implied MediaMatters daily quota.
Maybe I should start calling Eric “Bob Cratchit” instead.
