The Whine of the Moonbats: The Left Can’t Handle the Death of the Public Option

2009 December 19

Pass the popcorn and pull up a front row seat. Infighting between Democrats is escalating as leftists and “progressives” turn their sights from conservative media onto each other.

What could propel a party in control of both the executive and legislative branches to descend into rancor and morass? Answer: equal parts lust for power, greed, and a need to control. But to control America, first they have to break it. And to break America, healthcare reform and cap-and-trade must be swiftly implemented with minimal attention to the movement’s true radical agenda (single-payer.)

Hardcore leftists within the mainstream media and blogosphere who for years have aspired to advance the Left’s agenda are witnessing their dreams slip from their grasp as Congress and President Obama fail to deliver promised reforms. What began with former DNC Chairman Howard Dean’s proposal to “kill the bill” if Obamacare didn’t have a “public option” spiraled into a media maelstrom threatening to rip the Democrat Party asunder. But this is where the fun begins.

Leftists opposing Obamacare are the new targets of the White House attack machine and their complicit media. Since Dean’s pronouncement, the Obama administration has suspended its attacks on Fox News to aggressively dispute Dean in public, and on the White House blog.

On “Hardball,” Chris Matthews dissed progressive bloggers saying,

“I think a lot of those people are troublemakers…They get their giggles out of sitting in the back seat and bitching.”

Fellow MSNBC host Ed Schultz invited Markos Moulitsas of Daily Kos to respond to Matthews’ insult, which Moulitsas did vividly, warning Matthews “has a thing coming.” Other left-wing bloggers reacted by declaring Matthews,

“doesn’t know what the f*** he’s talking about.“

Lanny Davis was called a stooge for health insurance companies by Jane Hamsher of Firedoglake. MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan yelled at Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz over the 10% stock price increase for health insurance companies.

Ed Schultz challenged David Axelrod on health care reform competition. Keith Olbermann has joined Howard Dean in sniveling to “kill the bill.” And yesterday Naomi Klein lamented the President’s failure to use stimulus funds to garner agreement in Copenhagen.

As the President and Congress demonstrate their willingness to get-a-deal-at-any-cost, their base feels used as a means to get them elected. Now they’re relegated to watching what could have been a transformational moment in American politics wither away. As a Democratic Underground blogger noted, they’re

the rotten cancer at the heart of the Democrat Party.”

With friends like these, who needs political enemies? So sit back, enjoy the show and watch as the Left eats its own.

Well Well Well Ms. Blaine…you called them all out didn’t you…job well done.

PS. Are you the same @LizBlaine I follow on Twitter???

Under the surface, it has become a battle between AARP & SEIU. If one traces campaign contributions, you find out in which direction the leftist leans. Chris chose to moderate their issues at the expense of his own career.

True, but Chris “Tingle” Matthews sold his soul to the leftist agenda a while ago. He, and others, had ample opportunity to return to producing real journalism, but chose to propagandize an agenda with full knowledge of the lies promoted. In the past two years they have jeopardized any sense of truth, honor and integrity their viewers felt they held.

Well done, Liz, and congratulations once again. I think we’ll both enjoy the show while they eat each other alive – shall we send them some Fava beans and a nice Chianti?

Are they really that idealistic? This crap isn’t even about healthcare.

You must have missed viewing the many videos linked to actual broadcast conversations which the article refers. You may want to check out the ones linked in the paragraphs directly above and below the embedded video.

Sorry, I meant Obamacare isn’t really about health insurance. They don’t care about health!! These pundits are idiots if they take it literally.

For some unknown reason. the media has decided to get politically involved rather than objectively reporting the truth about what is going on in American politics, today. You can’;t even rationize with these people anymore.

There must be some form of “Elitist Virus” floating about. MSNBC went, leftist more than 2 years ago and CNN followed suit getting rid of Lou Dobbs. Even now, you have to choose newspapers when writing an political opinion you would like published. It is quite frightening. Fox News has to lean more to the right just to balance things out, Thank goodness for that, too.

Most of the broadcast networks don’t bother with the national issues too much anymore. They never really spent too much time on it anyway and once some were accused of deliberately reporting falsehoods, they closed those late evening half-hour national news programs.

Now, you float from one source to another and analize what is being said to determine is really happening. If you do that, it is pretty frightening.

The media has been complicit in promoting the Left’s agenda for ages. Look at ClimateGate, RatherGate, or most any media coverage during the Bush administration for recent examples.

When Obama received the Democrat nomination many in the media saw it as an opportunity to drop any pretense of objectivity, and use their positions of power to facilitate the achievement of the Left’s agenda which they have promoted in stealth throughout their careers. In the process, they’ve lost any semblence of journalistic integrity, honesty or fairness.

Nice job! They may not have the public option and its fun to watch them snipe each other, but unfortunately we are still going to get stuck with a bill that gives us higher taxes, higher premiums, worse care and a loss of freedoms.

Our only hope is a conservative takeover of the GOP and an a** kicking of the Dems in 2010. If we can get a majority, (which I think is possible) we may be able to turn this thing around. Time will tell.

To people who do not pay as close attention to politics as commenters here and in other places, and I would argue that is most people in the country, hearing that the left is attacking Obama makes him sound almost moderate; or at least not as far-left as he actually is. That may be a message Obama does not really have a problem with.

Obama is not moderate. The Left has moved so far from the center they have redefined a moderate liberal to the degree where the term ‘liberal’ is no longer applicable. They are leftists, and the majority of currently elected Democrats are extreme leftists. This is not your parent’s or grandparent’s Democrat Party. The extreme radicals of the ’60s have assumed control.

      • December 20, 2009

Yes Liz they have taken control and the squable of the
Left can never be assumed to be what it seems to be.
In 1966 I was invited to a Liberal Party meeting in
New York to listen to Jacob Javits speak, he was
running as a Republican not as a Liberal. I asked the
dumb question why not run as a Liberal outright and
the million dollar answers was that “Liberals only
get 5% of the vote, to get in he needed the Republican
Party endorsement”. Now that was long ago but the
Political shift goes like this, like musical chairs
the partys move around but not in a circle, continually
left. During the Clinton years I believed the shift
was, Democrats = Communists, Republicans = Liberals,
Liberals = Marxists, Marxists (children of Hell) kind
of like that, Conservatives = Conservatives. Trying to
reform the Republican party has been a dead end, to
many Progressives in the party. The People are more
conservative and must organize, it is the only way and
the conundrum is how to do it. Identity crisis is what
the problem is. The majority can govern in America but
as long as the Left keeps us off balance it is not
going to happen. Where are the true leaders, Republicans
continuously push up a Leftist in disguise even if it
        takes a generation they have not a 10, 20, 30 year plan
etc., they have a take forever, we will plan. Some on the
Left may think now is the time for the big push for
Marxism to take over everything every where but the
conservatives are intransigent when it comes to freedom.
We see our freedoms slip and slide away daily so we
have oars in the water but no keel, what is the plan.
Vote in elections for more rhino’s, it may be that
the tea party will come together on the National stage
and then we can see the division of what is now
Left and Right, Marxist and Free Man. The Marxists
are on the move world wide, we are way behind.
Love your work. I must add Ronald Regagan was
a bight light is a dark world, is there another
that will come forward but not compromise?

I am so happy when I read, in a public forum, what I say and think. Your…”do not pay close attention to politics…” is so true, but I also say a sleeping GIANT is wide awake and on the move. This collective GIANT is influencing many with their intelligent articles, comments, Twitter Tweets, letters to their local newspaper editors, etc…

Politicians who wish to redo public perception of their persona will be surprised at the reactions they recieve. I believe they will be met with eyes over glasses, cocked eybrows, heads spinning their way with a “do you think I’m stupid” look etc… Nothing will express the followers of that wide awake GIANT like read “my lips/watch me vote”.

PS. November/2008>>>80+MILLION>>>eligible Americans did not vote. We all have to make sure this never happens again. The sleeping GIANT can not be allowed to take so much as a nap until we have our country back.
PSS. Good work Ms. Blaine, I know your intellect and love for this country from Twitter…

Political moxie is absolutely right about what must come about quickly. As yet, a leader has not come forth that can weather the pending storm, but find him/her we must.

There are a lot of bloviators out there who had the opportunity to shine, but didn’t.

We have all trusted our politicians for too long and when reporters became politicians too, the voice of reason almost dissappeared.

  11. December 20, 2009

Geez, it so much fun to watch the fur fly. It is my prayer that the fighting escalates to a full blown war between the Obama adminstration, the Lefties, and the Progressives. It only then
at fever pitch will the uncommitted Americans see the insanity and destructiveness of this adminstration and the true direction that this country is headed. So, let’s stoke the fires, and sit back and roast marshmellows while they tear each other’s hair out.

    • December 20, 2009

The only fair fight would be between Nancy and Barney. Could you stand to see them crying right from the start?

      • December 20, 2009

The mascara stains under their eyes would sure be frightful when preen and prance in front of the cameras. However, I would pay to see Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi is a mud wrestling contest where the winner would have sole dibs to the mike for the entire year. Now that’s entertainment! We could have Dennis Kucinich be the ref and hold the match in the rotunda broadcast on CSPAN. Watching Nancy Pelosi shed those invisible crocodile tears as she ruminated on the bad behavior of the democrats rioting and destroying private property in Frisco back in the 70’s just touched my heart, and funny bone. These clowns are a riot and I hope they tear each other apart in their quest for power and control.

    @ Peachey

I’d mortgage my house to see that throwdown.
