It’s one thing when Media Matters accuses conservative pundits of spreading “misinformation” about Climategate. But now the George Soros Steno Pool is accusing mainstream media outlet ABC News of doing the same thing:

In a December 9 report, ABC correspondent David Wright advanced misleading claims about the emails stolen from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia, including the claim that the emails show scientists using a “trick to hide the decline in temperatures” and that a scientist called it a “travesty” that they couldn’t explain a temporary lack of warming.

Except the emails do show scientists using a “trick to hide the decline in temperatures.” And another scientist did call it a “travesty” that “we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment.”

So Media Matters is angry at ABC News (hardly a cog in the rightwing noise machine) for reporting these two facts? That’s all they could come up with this morning?

Is it a sign of desperation, or of idiocy, that Media Matters is now doing its best imitation of Homer Simpson, and stubbornly insisting that “everyone is stupid except me”? How believable is it that everyone else is “misinterpreting” the scientific scandal of the century, except the non-scientists who work at Media Matters?

Then again, maybe Media Matters just can’t cope with accurate quotations. They’re more accustomed to dealing in faked ones.
