Fresh after rolling out his surge-and-withdraw Afghanistan strategy, President Obama held a forum at the White House to seek new ideas on how to solve the job crisis and to create jobs.  He needs them. Everything that he has tried so far has failed. His team of czars  and economic advisors is like the gang who could not shoot straight. They are clueless.
Although the unemployment rate dropped slightly in November to 10%, unemployment has grown nearly 40% since Obama took office.
Bill O’Reilly offered a few ideas of his own on “The O’Reilly Factor” last night.  Most of them were straight-forward conservative ideas that would rely on the private sector to create new jobs. But one of O’Reilly’s ideas was incredibly bad – a new 2% sales tax.  What a great way to stimulate consumer demand, Bill! It’s good that you were not invited to the jobs forum.Â
But why were the United States Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business barred from participating in the forum even though their members have created more than one hundred million jobs? Could it have something to do with their opposition to Obama job-destroying initiatives such as Obamacare and cap-and-trade?
You would think that, if the administration were really serious about wanting ideas that will actually create jobs, it would turn to those who have real world experience in actually creating jobs. But this is an administration made up of political hacks, academics and social engineers who think they know better.Â
Obama’s stimulus plan has failed. The administration was even caught making up job growth figures so it could claim that the stimulus plan was working. The federal budget deficit tripled to a record $1.4 trillion under Obama’s watch. The “cash for clunkers” program provided a temporary bump for new car sales – but more for the Japanese car makers than for American car makers. Â
We are looking at more of the same. Democrats are talking about a second stimulus plan. Spending remains out of control. And Obama himself came up with another clunker idea of his own at his jobs forum – a program of weatherization incentives for homeowners and small businesses that would follow the “cash for clunkers” model. That’s like putting on a band-aid to stop massive bleeding.
Here is a better idea, Mr. President. Sack your economic team. Bring in people from the private sector who have a track record in creating real jobs. They know that the only real path to putting millions of Americans back to work is to create the proper incentives for investment and entrepreneurial drive with pro-growth tax and regulatory policies.
