Media Matters denounces global warming 'false claims' (no, not those ones…)
Back in July, Media Matters scolded conservative columnists George Will and Mark Steyn for making “false claims” about global warming:
In his July 23 Washington Post column, George Will repeated National Review Online columnist Mark Steyn’s false claim that “[i]f you’re 29, there has been no global warming for your entire adult life. If you’re graduating high school, there has been no global warming since you entered first grade.” (…)
In fact, Steyn’s claim is false: While 1998’s annual global average temperature set a record high that has not since been matched in most datasets, climate experts have identified a long-term warming trend and reject the notion that global warming has slowed or stopped.
In the wake of Climaquiddick, Media Matters’ smug certainty now sounds pretty pathetic. Especially since no less a personage than Tim Flannery, Chairman of the Copenhagen Climate Council and long-time global warming alarmist, admitted on Tuesday that Steyn was right:
When we come to the last few years when we haven’t seen a continuation of that (warming) trend we don’t understand all of the factors that create earth’s climate…We just don’t understand the way the whole system works… See, these people work with models, computer modelling. So when the computer modelling and the real world data disagree you’ve got a very interesting problem… Sure for the last 10 years we’ve gone through a slight cooling trend.
I haven’t spotted a retraction and apology to Steyn and Will on the Media Matters site. I’ll keep looking.
A related aside: the taxpayer-funded CBC in particular, and Canada in general, have endured well-deserved beat downs this week. However, do note that a handful of us aren’t completely useless. (No need to actually watch this video clip; the screen shot says it all):

It is obvious that to maintain government funding, the issue has to remain controversial. The longer the better; results not necessary.

How many of you have seen a PowerPoint presentation with a graph that goes up and up, and then at the end drops down a bit? Is the trend going up, or is it now going down? Solution: A trend line. Although there has been “no warming,” or possibly even “cooling,” over the last ten years, a trend line would probably still show global temperatures headed upwards.
That being said, there are two issues being constantly confused in the debate over global warming. The first is whether or not there really is a warming trend. Personally, from what I’ve read and observed, I think there is. Second is the question, “What’s causing the warming?” I believe the warming trend fits in nicely with the long-term warming that has been taking place since the end of the last ice age. Proponents of anthropogenic global warming (AGW – human-caused warming) have proposed that human activities, namely the introduction of large amounts of “greenhouse gasses” into the earth’s atmosphere, are responsible. What leads them to this belief? Computer modeling.
But in the article above you see an admission about their computer modeling, a point made often by global warming “skeptics” – the models are incapable of replicating CURRENT CONDITIONS. This means that they not only don’t show what’s happening now in the earth’s atmosphere, but they are also incapable of predicting the future. However, this is exactly where the proponents of AGW get their “science,” from flawed computer models. Human responsibility for global warming remains an unproven theory, proof for which has yet to be published in a single peer-reviewed journal. (What has been published are the results of computer modeling. Although this modeling supports their theory, it does not provide proof.)

I believe the greatest danger to humanity is not so much the global warming scam in and of it self , but of the very real dangers that are being ignored because of politically motivated scientist. We have now loss our sense of trust in our scientific community and there are danders out there. Now that the scientist have cried ‘wolf’ , will we be prepared for future situations that are NOT man made but must be dealt with.
For example, last month I tagged an article hear concerning methane gas bubbling out of the Atlantic ocean in hundreds of bubble columns witch then mix with ocean water and the atmosphere. The German and British scientist suspect that there might be hundreds more. All this methane is believed to be acidifying the ocean and causing the ice caps to melt.
The problem becomes apparent now that real scientist are finding problems and we don’t trust them. Politicians and the media and left wing greenies are dictating what we should believe. We now know the truth is finally being exposed but what damage have they done? What more damage will they still do in keeping up with their false claims?
I think that the scientific community needs to stand up and attack these false prophets and excommunicate them from their community, or else they’ll never be believed again and we will be in a very dangerous situation.
Because one day the wolf WILL come. Will our scientidic community be there to save us or will they still claim, like chicken little, that the sky is falling?

Here is a true environmental disaster that you probably have never heard about, one of many, and unlike so called man made Earth warming there is actually something that could be done. But nothing will be until it’s too late, between the animal rights loons, the enviromarxists, and the gun haters they will make sure that every neighborhood has packs of feral pigs tearing up the landscape.

What most people don’t know however is that throughout this long warming trend, we still haven’t reach the earth’s true long term median temperature . In other words, even though we’ve risen almost a degree above the 1,000 year median, we’re still cool in relation to the long term median.

A more accurate statement would be that they created their computer models from flawed and falsified data, which, when considered in light of the fact that they were not involved in free scientific inquiry (which is redundant of course.. If it’s not free than it isn’t science). Instead they were involved in an attempt to come up with scientific evidence that would prove a pre-ordained conclusion.
A brilliant retired physicist named Howard Hayden, (Professor Emeritus of Physics, UConn), in a recent letter to the current administrator of the EPA, disproved the entire AGW nonsense with one single letter of the alphabet. The letter was “sâ€
To stray so far from the basic principles of how REAL scientific inquiry works, is proof that something is rotten in the multinational state of EPA-IPCC-CRU

Methane is another word for natural gas. It’s what the oil and gas people drill for. Sometimes it comes seeping out of old landfills and mammal backsides. As far back as I can remember the oil and gas industry has been trying to figure out a cheap way to harvest methane gas frozen in ice balls that roll around the bottom of oceans.
I wouldn’t worry too much about any methane bubbling up under the Atlantic. It is all organic and has probably been bubbling up for millenia, someone finally took notice and went “gore” about it.

It’s interesting that you should mention this, because I recently received some photos taken by an old friend, that he took of his son going after one of these wild pigs that they saw in a field they were driving by.
