I missed this earlier this week, as did most other conservative bloggers, but it seems that MSNBC once again enabled a Palin-basher to spew her hatred of the former Alaska governor on national television.
Tina Brown is founder and editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast website and a convinced Leftist. Needless to say, she also hates Palin’s guts, which automatically makes her one of MSNBC’s all-time favorite bloggers.
“Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski pointed out that Palin is closing in on President Barack Obama in the polls. Does this mean she is a viable candidate in 2012, they wondered? Brown’s answer:
What people are responding to is that great vitality, that confidence – it doesn’t matter that the confidence is based on a kind of total ignorance. The fact is that there is a vitality about her that people like.
Now, I’m not American, but even I am annoyed by Brown’s lack of respect for Palin and the American people. Sure, she may have made some mistakes last year and, truth be told, she didn’t always handle difficult questions well, but to label her – and indirectly her supporters – “ignorant” is both disrespectful and wrong.
If Palin was even half as uninformed as Brown and her ilk pretend, she would not have been as successful a governor of Alaska as she has been. There was a reason more than 80% of Alaskans approved of her handling of the job, when she became Senator John McCain‘s running mate last year. And that reason was that she was good at what she did. Have you ever heard of a total ignoramus who was a great governor nonetheless? Right, me neither.
But that doesn’t prevent fake feminists such as Brown from insulting one of the most successful women in America today. Brown’s recent insults only reinforce my belief that the Left fears Palin, because it sees her as an apostate — an Uncle Tom, if you will. They don’t hate and despise her because she’s not intelligent enough for their taste – because she is very intelligent indeed - but because she’s conservative. As usual, that and nothing else is the real problem of a prominent Palin-hater.
There is also good news by the way: the more Brown et al. insult Palin, the more conservatives like myself will rise up to defend her. Ironically, Leftists are actually uniting the Right by continuing their smear campaign. When push comes to shove, the Left really is the Right’s best friend.
