As a nurse with 36 years experience I know that preventative medicine is more costly that interventional medicine alone. When the screening and preventative medicine coverages are removed the patient will be diagnosed at a later stage of disease/illness and will have a greater chance of as less than successful or fatal outcome. When the diagnosis outcome criteria of the Federal panel is put into place, they will determine the limit and stages that will receive care. This is a death panel by any other name. If your illness is perceived as having a less than successful outcome, you will not receive care. They will pass you on to hospice care in preparation for your demise. The transplants for even productive citizens over the age of 40 will end. It will all boil down to age-productivity-remaining taxpaying years-education and success ratios to be established by this "panel" It is interesting to note that no oncologists were on the panels that released new breast and cervical screening suggestions. While the Amer College of Gyn's released the cervical/PAP suggestions, they did so through the AMA. More is to come folks, so I suggest that all of you break out the exercise equipment, take your vitamins,lose weight and stop smoking. Healthcare just became your enemy.
