Lynn Stewart was doing what any defense lawyer does with their client. It makes not one bit of difference who that client is or what they are charged for. It is called attorney-client privilege and it has been a fundamental part of American law since it's inception. Unfortunately under the US's draconian and fear laden "terror" laws attorney-client privilege has become a felony when it comes to representing someone labeled a "terrorist". Most of the redneck 6th grade level dolts who populate the US care less about the complete dismantling of constitutional law in the US. The right of attorney-client privilege is now a crap shoot. If you are labeled a suspected terrorist, you will be completely out of luck when it comes to finding fair representation for your trial. That along with the state being able to present secret evidence against you that you have no right to even know about before you get strung up at your trial. From the greatest legal system in the world to a ass-clown kangaroo court system all in the blink of an eye!
