I agree. We need to "fundamentally change" this country to fix the huge mistakes the founding fathers made. We need a new Bill of Rights that guaruntees everyone (whether they are a taxpaying citizen or not) access to free taxpayer funded healthcare, free taxpayer funded housing, free taxpayer funded cars, gas, electricity, food, water. That's why I am a proud member of the ACLU, SEIU, ACORN, NAMBLA, NEA, AARP, DNC, and many more! If it's free (taxpayer funded) than it's for me!!! YAY!!! Now, who am I supposed to vote for to get the free (taxp[ayer funded) stuff?

Jack- don't burst a blood vessel. Commit adultery? Better think about that one for a bit.
We're obviously on different side of likely every issue you could name, but that's what freedom is all about- and I'd defend your right to disagree with me, publicly or privately, any time.

I'm sure we could find some common ground though. And you're right- a lot of things are troubling the nation, always have and will continue to do so. Can we continue to have intelligent dialogue that respects the rights of the indivdual to his opinion, and try to forge some path forward?

It seems that things are dividing on a left right basis more so than ever before. Every man for himself versus some consensus on the common good. I just happen to believe that religion of any stripe is dangerously dividing us, and needs to be kept in the privacy of the family, and not as a matter of public policy. What I'm seeing is the talibanization of America. What many seem to think as a desire to return to simpler times- god and family oriented, I see as a return to the dark ages.

At any rate, time is getting short I'm afraid- for the country, for co-operation, and for a decent secular society for us all, one that recognizes not only the rights of the individual, but the importance of ensuring human rights and, constitutionally, a complete separation of church (synagogue, mosque, temple etc.) and public institutions and policy. I guess we just see the danger differently.

But we are all in this together, like it or not. We better think of ways to solve this, or the lights truly will start to go out.

Bill
Godalmighty I want what ever you have been smoking! Who would be standing up for for union thugs? How about all of the Obama administration and Acorn. They would call in Jimmy Hoffa but well there standing on top of him now along with bunchs of other jailed union racakteers.

"to keep fighting the erosion of liberty and the insidious influence of religion" Boy you flat draw a blank there they are fighting to stifle the free speech of people of faith which happens to be about 80% of this country. We have rights as well and we do not have to hid in the closet like the scumbag ACLU would have us do. The ACLU stands for every rotten dirty disgusting thing that plagues the nation. The ACLU is a comunist organization founded by a comunist who's stated goal was to do away with private propert and he openly admited it his name was Baldwin. If you do not know that then you do not know anything.

Oh yea and if this sounds a little over the edge well it is. I would rather commit adultry than have a damned thing to do with the ACLU.

If not for the ACLU, who the hell do you all think would be standing up for freedom of speech, of assembly, the right for Unions to organize, and constitutional rights including freedom FROM religion. Politicians? The police? Glen Beck and Lou Dobbs? The televangalists? Don't make me laugh.
Yes, I'm a proud member of the American Civil Liberties Union, and consider my dues money well spent to keep fighting the erosion of liberty and the insidious influence of religion in what passes for a secular society.

I can't figure the anti ACLU people out- the more rights you lose, the more you cheer on the people and organizations that do it to you. Never mind "Whats wrong with Kansas"...what the hell is wrong with you guys?
Move Freedom Forward.

You only have to look at the hard work the ACLU is doing to protect apostate young (formerly) Muslim teen aged girls in America from being killed by their parents, to see what a great organization this is!
