He Did Ask Us to Judge Him, Did He Not?

barack_obama Judge me by the people with whom I surround myself  -Barack Obama, 2008

While he was campaigning and fervently denying his socialist proclivities, candidate Barack Obama admonished us to judge him by those individuals whose counsel he would actively seek once he was elected president. Since his election (and judging him by that measure), the president has done little to put his critics at ease in that regard. On the contrary, his selection of advisors to date has done nothing to dispel any doubts, and at this point it is safe to conclude that Barack Obama is, without reservation, a socialist.

Those of us who monitor such things have winced at some of the choices the President has made in the selection of those individuals whose counsel he has deemed worthy to solicit. Readers of NewsRealblog have access to a rapidly growing archive of timely and prescient articles detailing some of the more unsavory characters (with links to complete profiles for most of them at–a valuable resource freely available to all). The radical positions taken by these current (and former) advisors, such as Van Jones, Mark Lloyd, Cass Sunstein, Ezekial Emanuel and John Holdren should be familiar to all readers of this blog.

But these names are just the tip of the iceberg.

Obama should also be judged on who his houseguests are, and Democracy Now!’s Amy Goodman is reporting that the list of those names—for Obama’s first six months in office, at any rate—has finally been released. To their credit (and perhaps partially as a result of empathetic socialist pride), Goodman’s Democracy Now! report even contained a few names:

Democracy Now!: Labor leader Andy Stern of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) topped the list, making twenty-two trips to the White House. Other frequent visitors included former [Bill] Clinton White House Chief of Staff John Podesta, former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, National Organization for Women President Kim Gandy, and NARAL Pro-Choice America President Nancy Keenan.

The multiple visits by SEIU’s Andy Stern, the international socialist and advocate of forced unionization, are especially curious (see Matthew Vadum’s excellent post on Stern here), and warrant a closer look.

In addition to the above names, the following White House visitors have also met with President Obama or his advisors during his first six months in office (many of them visiting multiple times): Richard Trumka, of the AFL-CIO, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Malik Shabazz (leader of the New Black Panther Party), William Ayers, Al Gore, George Soros, Ted Kennedy (nine visits before his death), Jeremiah Wright, Michael Moore, ACORN spokesman Scott Levinson, and Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards.

The jury is in. The President has an affinity for leftist misfits of all stripes, and the only people he seems to surround himself with are radicals, radicals and more radicals.
