Thanks for the truth. Certainly there are many peaceful Muslims; I worked with a number of Muslim physicians before I retired. They were intelligent men and women who did not blame the U.S. for the problems in Muslim countries but gave me an understanding of why radical muslim groups do and why they have become influential and dangerous.

"Drips?" I'd caution against using "drips" when defending Muslims. The inadvertent evocation of dripping swords, dripping heads just severed, dripping walls after suicide bombings, dripping circumcisions of young girls, dripping self-inflicted gashes of jihad devotees, dripping jet fuel down office towers, dripping oil wells that finance the bloodbaths, dripping saliva from the rabid lips of imams worldwide, dripping urine down the pant legs of the spineless media, and last but not least, the still dripping tears of 9-11 victims' families, must inevitably tell against your well-meaning but naive efforts toward "compromise."

Question: Is the Bible God’s literal, infallible, and unchangeable word?

I can answer this in one short word. No. The Bible isn't God's literal infallible and unchangeable word. This is mainly because the current Bible isn't the original Book of God. The original Book of God is the Torah, and the original Torah was burned by the Persians when Nebuchadnezzar took the Hebrew people slave during his reign.

The Current Bible is translated from Greek, and as translations are honed and get better and better, new translations come out. Not to mention that every Christian Denomination has it's own take on the Bible.

In addition to being translated from Greek and Hebrew, the Current Bible is a hodgepodge of books that was voted on in the council of Nicea in 325 AD, and overseen by Emperor Constantine in an effort to get the different Christian Sects to get along. Many books were excised, and three books were added. That's why the Bible the Baptists read is different from the Bible that Catholics read and Pentacostals read, which is different from the Bible Mormon's read.

However, that shouldn't take away from the basic message, which is "Love your neighbor as you do yourself," and "Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you."

If you needed any proof that it's not the literal word of God, then it can be found in Genesis 1 and 2, which are two different accounts of the Creation Story, both of which are at odds with each other. In addition to that, most of the lessons in the Bible are Parables, which are stories that were meant to teach a lesson.

Our Contributer, Swemson would say that these things are self-evident and even an Atheist believes in them.

Bobby
The fact is it is not a religion of peace and they to a great degree reuse to be brought into the 21st century they are fighting every step of the way. Quite a few years ago I had to interview a convict at the Lewisburg Federal Pen in Pa. It was controled mostly by the black muslims and they did not believe in peace at anytime. My visit was a vain attempt to locate someone else and I knew I was wasting my time but had to dot that I, They eventually broke that enclave of home growns up and I reccomend moving all these prisoners and not allowing them to be indoctrinated just moving them to different5 locations helps and not allowing a large concentration of muslim control.

As so many posters have observed, the political correctness infesting this nation, and mainly driven by leftist Democrats, is killing us as a nation. Isn't it interesting that several administrations in D.C. have told us and pounded into us the dangers of terrorism, yet they act as if we are fighting Ireland. Something is terribly wrong here, and this is the central theme that I believe bothers so many people. If Islam is a religion of peace, what in the hell are we doing in Islamic countries? Again, what is the true agenda of our being in the mideast?

Peter, I'm sorry for your loss. I never had a son, but I can somewhat imagine the pain you must feel. I pray the Lord eases your burden with the passing of time. I also want to thank you for your total support of America's immigration laws', the importance of which, seem to go right over the heads of many Americans.

Question: Is the Bible God’s literal, infallible, and unchangeable word? By Valhalla

Short and easy answer. No. Why not? Beacause the bible you read depends upon your denomination, and no two translations agree all the time. The bible has been retranslated so many times, that it's not exactley the same book my father grew up reading.

Besides, the council of nicea in the 13th (?) Century took a much bigger book and excised parts of it and added parts, to try to get it to mesh across all the christian denominations of the time.

It doesn't change the basic message though: that we should love our neighbor as we do ourselves, and that we should do unto others what we'd have them do to us.

IT was Satire meant to show how false the argument is. Satire is a good method to show the falsity of an argument. Problem is that often people do not recognize Satire when they see it.
